gdR has partnered with Forma AI to recruit their first CTO. Forma AI is a company based out of Toronto that is reinventing sales intelligence for leading enterprise organizations. Forma AI’s solution has helped Fortune 500 companies automate and optimize sales compensation and critical sales operations functions.

The Position

Reporting to Nabeil Alazzam, Founder & CEO, Forma is looking for an experienced CTO to run and grow the engineering team, and shepherd the product and team to the next level.

Responsibilities

  • Forma has a strong, young engineering team. You will need to hire a lot of people over the next few years, while keeping culture strong, quality high. You’ll start by leading a 20+ person engineering & data team and scale rapidly to 50+ in the first year. 

  • With input from your team and the company strategy & product roadmap, you’ll create and manage the technical roadmap. You’ll also bridge the gap across engineering, product, and customer operations, both from a requirements and priorities perspective.

  • You’ll have technical accountability and will provide guidance to the organization and team in building products and a platform that scales to meet the performance & reliability needs of large scale enterprise customers. 

  • You’ll define and manage the engineering budget, including people and technical (e.g., infrastructure) budget items. You’ll also manage the SR&ED process.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Excellent communication skills with comfort presenting to audiences that includes the Board, venture capitalists, customers and the company. 

  • Senior level engineering leadership experience where you’ve guided product companies through the startup & growth stage journey and succeeded in navigating the complexity, chaos and excitement that comes with it.

  • Significant software engineering leadership experience, scaling and leading diverse teams to at minimum 25+ people with a leader of leader structure in place (e.g., leading managers) and in a remote environment.

  • Technical depth and platform scaling experience that will enable you to guide and support the team. It’s expected that you were previously a senior engineer and that this serves as the foundation for your technical problem solving, coaching and solutioning skills. Note this is not a hands-on coding role and you do not need to be the systems architect, but you should be someone who keeps their hands dirty.

  • Experience building & ensuring the reliability and availability of systems for customers with high service level expectations. Enterprise customer experience is ideal, but we are open to SMB and consumer.

Desired Experience & Skills

  • Experience building data-centric products that include advanced analytics or data science/machine learning capabilities 

  • Experience with the Forma tech stack is a bonus. The stack includes Python, Django, SQL, React, AWS. At minimum, we’d expect you have worked with a modern stack and environment. 

  • SOC 2 audit and compliance experience. 

  • Bachelor’s / post secondary degree in Computer Science or Engineering
