Toronto, Ontario M5T 1Z7 | Contract - 12 month

Job ID: 1367 Job Category: Marketing

Start Date: Monday, September 17, 2018
Duration: 1 year

About gdR:
We grow the capacity of our tech ecosystem, enabling people and companies to thrive and maximize their impact. We do this through:

  • Exec search - game changing tech leaders.

  • Team recruiting - individual contributors that take teams to the next level in software and hardware engineering, product design, product management, systems and marketing.

  • Leadership development - trained coaches that focus on transformational change for leadership teams.

  • Community contributions - In 2016, we co-founded Canadian Tech @ Scale in an effort to grow the capabilities of Canadian engineering teams. We also work closely with women in tech at our monthly Coaching Circles to help them feel empowered and be heard in a male-dominated industry.

Why Join?

  • Opportunity to make a big impact on the growing tech ecosystem in Canada - it’s our time! We just beat the Bay area in tech jobs!

  • Develop strong leadership skills. We have three amazing coaches on our team that engrain themselves in companies to develop high-performance team practices within the leadership. And we directly benefit from it - they love to share!

  • Epic (I don’t use this word lightly) people! We’re a small, close-knit team that understands the value of collaborating on everything from marketing strategy to lunch plans. Learn more about us below.

As the Marketing Manager at gdR, here’s how you’ll make an impact:

  • Mentorship: Our Digital Marketing Coordinator is a smart and curious recent grad who needs guidance and mentorship to grow her talents even further. And she’s a super eager Padawan who makes it easy!

  • Content: Blog posts, newsletters, videos, campaigns - oh my! We develop a range of content to support our recruitment and leadership development efforts. And we want you to bring your most creative ideas to help us bring value to clients and candidates.

  • Events: You’ll be organizing events that range from a large engineering leadership conference (in partnership with Shopify + Uber ATG) and intimate, monthly Women in Tech Coaching Circles to job seeker events such as Startup Open House and Startup Tech Fest. Think we should be doing more? Bring it up!

  • Brand: We have a great reputation amongst Canadian tech companies, but we’re always looking for new ways of making sure tech talent in Canada and abroad know that we’re not like other agency recruiters and that we can support their entire career journey. The goal is to get a resounding “YES!” from every job seeker our recruiters speak to!

  • Growth: When we say growth, we’re talking about engaging with more inbound candidates (so all the marketing activities that encourage folks to apply to our jobs). We’ve done a great job over the last two years to improve our # of placements from inbound, but we know that a new set of eyes on the strategy can have real impact.

  • Data: We’ve put in work to ensure the entire gdR team is aligned and working towards the same company goals. Marketing has a set of metrics that are tied to these goals and a dashboard for measuring. But there’s always more we could be doing with all the data, so get your hands dirty and let us know what you think.

You’re the ideal Marketing Manager for gdR if you have:

  • Strong writing skills that drive action; ability to distill the gdR values into marketing messages that are engaging and drive conversion.

  • Experience with email marketing (e.g., Mailchimp), social media platforms (e.g., Sprout Social), Google Analytics, etc.

  • Data driven approach to marketing where measurement and ongoing adjustments to campaigns and engagement programs drive results.

  • High level of interest in technology and the tech community. While you aren’t likely to have been an engineer, having a passion for innovation and a belief in the impact that the tech community can have is desired.

  • Ability to build consensus and get people to buy in to your programs.

  • Desire to get out in the community, meet people and build the gdR brand.
